Buddhist chants Part of traditional Japanese music, these chants are used as vocal music in Buddhist ceremonies. They could be compared to the Gregorian chants of the Roman Catholic Church. San-bo-in carries on the orthodox school of Buddhism that survives at Mt. Koya. It hosts a “Chinkon" Concert to honor the deceased every year in mid-autumn.
